Mentalia Locums is seeking a newly qualified HCPC-registered Psychologist for a two-day-per-week role, starting on a locum basis with a view to moving into a permanent position.
Supporting clients with complex mental health presentations across the lifespan, you’ll combine direct clinical work with helping staff and families develop a clearer understanding of each person’s needs.
This is a varied opportunity to apply the skills developed during your training, access supervision and potentially build a longer-term role within the service.
Working arrangement
One day per week working remotely and one day visiting clients in their homes or care settings.
Supervision, staff meetings, reflective practice sessions and professional meetings take place online via Microsoft Teams.
A driving licence and access to a car are essential.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking psychological assessments and developing formulations to inform individual care and support.
- Providing therapeutic interventions tailored to clients’ needs and circumstances.
- Working within a Positive Behaviour Support approach.
- Contributing psychological expertise to meetings with families, professionals and NHS Trust care teams.
- Supporting staff through participation in, or facilitation of, reflective practice sessions.
- Assessing prospective new clients when required—an infrequent but important responsibility.
- Contributing to clinical audit and governance in line with company policies.
- Attending monthly management meetings and contributing to service planning.
Cultural awareness, sensitivity and clear communication will be central to your work.
About you
You’ll have recently completed your professional psychology qualification and hold HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
You’ll bring assessment, formulation and therapeutic skills developed through your training placements, alongside a willingness to learn, reflect and make effective use of supervision.
An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support would be valuable. You’ll also be comfortable using Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and PowerPoint, alongside tools such as ChatGPT where permitted by company policy and confidentiality requirements.
